MoonShadow started off thousands of miles to the South East near Jeunesse. (in the sort of Florida like prominence of the continent) I hope Sam shows up soon. Me too. She said 11:30, but I figure that is the absolute earliest. It is Friday at 3:30pm for her at the moment She is a teacher, correct? Yes The question is, then what time do the kids get out of school there and how soon can she make it home? Fridays she is normally off between 3 and 4, but tonight she said it would be 11:30 our time That she could be home and online. Okay.....so a little over 15 mins ago....something may have delayed her or she may have forgotten. Wow, I didn't know Neil Diamond also did "I'm a Believer" He wrote it for The Monkees. I heard from her at what would have been Friday Morning for her before she went to work and she was looking forward to gaming. She thought she'd missed it. Okay I have to take a washroom break. Could you make sure someone is here for the next few minutes in case she shows up while I'm gone? ...guess not Sure, will do. BRB Session Time: Fri May 16 00:00:00 2003 Sam is coming... if we can get her here too. Okay, sounds good. Workingon it kk I have Beluga whales on my computer right now. :-) Aren't they just a little heavy for the poor thing? :)] They seem rather happy sounding to me * Moon-Shadow grins I am going to go grab a smoke while we wait for Sam. Okay still working on it. problems with connecting from their Japanese ISP Okay, I am back Almost Good Now I have "Sounds of Nature: Pine Forest" playing *** Joins: Sam (sammay_ca@2EA9D3D0.F08AEE82.3145098C.IP) Hi! Hello? Hi Hi! Good to see you. I am Sandra =) :) How do I change my name? It's been a while. Type in /nick *** Sam is now known as Brother sending the log of the game so far tonight *** Brother is now known as Brother-Maurius Let's see, a synopsis should be inorder even so Yep Emalda says that she thinks there is another exit to the back of the cave. It definitely feels warmer to the back of the cave. Before the entrance was covered by the slide there was a warm breeze coming from the back of the cave. There is a faint glow from growths on the rocks that get brighter the deeper you go in. The St Bernard runs on ahead barking. You feel like you're entering a large chamber. There are drafts of warm air and the smell of plant life. Not quite so strong as if it were a swamp or a bog in the summer. Perhaps a bog in the spring? The glowing plant growth in the ceiling no longer seems bluish. It seems further away and almost like clouds in the night sky. The Barking sounds a fair distance away, and not echoing like in a cave. There is the sound of wind through grass and brush. You notice it is getting lighter in one direction, at first bluish, but then blushing pink. The ground is definitely covered now with plant growth. Heathers and tussocks of grass. You note the patches of light above are now paling and have patches of darkness.... there are stars in the darkness. If sought the patterns of the stars are the same as at home. The St Bernhard returns with a large rabbit in its jaws. It brings it to Marius. You note that there is a wide circle of mushrooms around where you find yourselves The circle is around 200 feet across. Fairly normal looking mushrooms though the caps are red with blue spots. things are pretty weird. There is a sunrise, but it only takes 2 hours to reach noon. The vegitation is bluish and the sun and sky greenish After noon when the sun should start setting it backtracks back to noon. Other things sometimes work backwards as well "GOD'S GRACE!! ARE WE IN HEAVEN?" No, I don't think so. The terrain is very low rolling hills covered in heather and tussocks of grass. (Don't know if you recall, but Maurius always speaks in caps) "WHAT MAGIC IS THIS??!" Walking to the opposite side of the circle Grendal seems to be walking backwards. Beats me.....(you would have noticed that the rabbit that the dog brought back, has wings.) <--- St Bernard "IF THERE ARE ANY CREATURES IN THIS WORLD, PLEASE SHOW YOURSELVES!" <--- Marius has just realized that Vernard has been talking. (besides the rabbit, that is. Is it dead?) Vernard has also caught a rabbit and a bird. The rabbit's wing was broken. (Yep...tasted good too. Just a hint of mint flavoring to the meat.) The robin sized bird's wings were like monarch butterfly's except blue where they should be orange The only landmark type stuff is the 200 foot diameter ring of mushrooms and the sun above... So it seems thngs are very weird here. BTW Vernard has just offered to try sniff his way back to where you came from. Marius took this as a definite sign once he realized that Vernard was talking. Maurius looks around toee what he can see. Vernard is the dog then? to see Yep. It is dark at the moment with dawn coming from an unexpected direction. Also Grendal spotted some manlike critter appear and dissapear from the centre of the circle during the night. Vernard is the St Bernard Yep. When Moon Shadow stepped into the center of the ring, it looked to her like everyone faded out. I'm the guide that was picked up in the last city ACtually Moon Shadow faded out as she lay down in the centre Weird. very "VERNARD! WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF ALL THIS?!!" I got transported from my home territory in the SE during Spring, to here just inside the mouth of a cave. When people are not together things are weirder than when they are together. Well, it is weird and I want to go back to the cave now, please. I think I might be able to track our scent back. There hasn't been any rain or anything. My nose seems to be working just fine. At least could you take me off the leash again so I can catch another rabbit? They have wings, but they don't seem to use them. This seems like Dog Heaven to me. Except that there aren't any other dogs and no trees to mark. I don't see why we can't do that, let you catch a rabbit or two. At the moment the sky is dark with stars and patches of cloud with light reflecting from underneath. "HM. WELL! IF YOU PLEASE, VERNARD, TRACK OUR SCENT BACK TO WHERE WE WERE!" Well, it was just that with the rabbits having wings, and the robins having butterfly wings and some birds even having 4 wings we thought it might be important not to just hunt anythng...or it might be an anybody. * Moon-Shadow sighs and wraps her blanket more tightly around herself. (She is dressed in very light summer clothing.) I figured it would be okay as long as we don't eat any pomegranit seeds. But Emalda pondered what would happen to partly digested rabbit when time seemed to go backwards. Lrt's not go there, shall we? Okay... well I think it would be this way. * Brother-Maurius follows. * Moon-Shadow follows I still don't think it is safe inside the circle. Grizelda might have set it up like a magic trap. Emalda follows You have two choises, come with us, or stay here on your own.....it's up to you? Grendal follows, "I still don't like it We'll only end up back trapped in the cave or worse. Vern reaches the centre of the circle and starts to fade. Maybe, maybe not. We certainly were not going anywhere here. I think I've found woof. "AND WHAT IN PARTICULAR ABOUT THIS PLACE RECOMMENDS ITSELF TO YOU, MY GOOD FELLOW?" * Moon-Shadow follows Vernard in to the center of the circle * Brother-Maurius IS STILL FOLLOWING. Well it is warm, pleasant, there are rabbits to hunt.... Vernard starts barking and pulling away a bit in distance fading moreso "SHOULD WE NOT LEAVE THEM IN PEACE THEN, FROM OUR STRANGE MENACE?" It seems he's caught another scent! * Brother-Maurius is right beside Vernard. * Moon-Shadow hurries to catch up with him. woof wooof bark wooof.... Looks like he has gone back to not being able to talk again. The sky darkens and now it seems as though you are once more in a largish chamber as now the sounds echo. You can keep Vernard in sight as you move. The smells of the heather fade, but smells of a pine forest replace them. "PERHAPS IT IS A SIGN THAT WE ARE CLOSER TO WHENCE WE CAME!" Okay......definately not the cave.....but at least maybe not as wierd as the other spot. Once more things feel like they have opened up. Opened to someplace not quite so open as the rolling hills of heather. There are things standing up all around in the gloom. Vernard has found a tree to mark. This seems a bit more like home. *** EmaldaVernard is now known as EmaldaGwain The sky through the trees seems to be lightening up. * Brother-Maurius says to Vernard, "WHAT SAY YOU,FRIEND, EH?" * Moon-Shadow looks around to see what she can in the growing light. At least you can see the treetops in silhouette against the sky Woof.... wimper Vernard turns his head to the side somewhat questioningly. * Moon-Shadow approaches Vernard You can hear the sound of wind through the trees. Like waves gently breaking on a beach. "YES, I'M AFRAID WE HAVE ALL BECOME DEAF NOW, BUT WE'LL TRY OUR BEST. WHAT IS IT, NOW?" We were heading somewhat Southwest before the Avalanche hit. Perhaps we should go in that direction. Emalda points at a tree. IF the moss grows on the north side of the trees, SW should be there. She says pointing in the appropriate direction. Vernard points Westward (assuming the tree moss thing is correct.) (with his nose) I thnk following Vernard is still a good idea. Should we go West like Vernard is pointing or SW like Emalda things we should? Any more sign of those mushrooms? I vote for West. "ALL RIGHT. BETWEEN YOU AND THE DOG, GOD KNOWS THE REST OF US HAVE NO FURTHER RIGHT TO ARGUE. LET'S GO!" Only shelf type mushrooms on trees and fallen trees. I'd vote for West! Is there any sunlight at all? Vernard hasn't lead us wrong yet.... or spoken misstruth like that Grizelda. I don't trust magic ever since that guy exploded. No sunlight though it might be lighter toward what you think is East. At least lighter than in the west. "YES, GOD KNOWS HE IS CERTAINLY A TRUSTY SORT!" Perhaps if we go West a pace and then veer south? Warf! (Maurius' vocal cords got stuck on "loud" from too much prechy to large audiences in drafty buildings.) (To Vernard) Lead on my friend. preaching... (lol) does Vernard still have the rope attached to his collar? Maurius didn't take it off... or is he loose once more? Still attatched. Vernard pulls to the west. Sniifing the ground as he he goes. * Moon-Shadow follows * Brother-Maurius picks up the end of the rope. grendeal and emalda follow as well at least this is more normal seeming. Even if we can't see any landmarks. I cnat type very well anmyore You travel what seems to be for hours westward. It doesn't seem to be getting any lighter "INDEED! HEAVEN KNOWS WHETHER IT IS TRULY HOME OR NOT, BUT AT LEAST IT IS MORE EARTHY SEEMING." Agreed... Vernard pulls towards the side a bit and into a thicket of bush. not another rabbit I hope. especially with wings * Brother-Maurius follows. Okay, follow him there. * Moon-Shadow follows In the thicket Vern stops sniffing something in thick grass. On closer inspection it appears to be a fawn. Alive? Okay......maybe we should back out...... I know fawns can be still.... but this appears like a statue * Moon-Shadow takes a closer look Surely the fawn though warm to touch, is as motionless as a statue. (OOOooo! Is it a Unicorn? I heard unicorns are supposed to attracted to young maidens like me! (the voice of Ilaurissa)) Not certain I like this.... Off in the gloom is a shadow in the shape of a deer. The wind seems not to be blowing any more. * Brother-Maurius takes a closer look at it. The shadow on closer inspection is that of a female deer, heavy with milk. The deer too is frozen Hmm...not good. Are they both breathing visibly? Hmmmm.....maybe we should back out of here......this is only a guess, but I think that they are waiting for the Sun to reach them.... I don't like the looks of this. Maybe we should try more southerly. "AT LAST!! iT APPEARS WE HAVE BEEN SENT WHERE THERE IS A NEED FOR US!" * Moon-Shadow blinks at Maurius "WELL, THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A *GREAT EVIL* FOR US TO FIGHT!" And where do you suggest we start? Emalda crouches wishing she still had her bow. * Brother-Maurius consults God. Vernard says Woof? * Moon-Shadow pets Vernard's head and says "I have NO idea" Does God have any leads? Emalda points in the direction the deer is looking there is another shadow in the woods. Shorter than the deer yet taller than the fawn What is it? * Moon-Shadow moves cautiously to investigate the new shadow *** Joins: Guest_9047 (IRCQNet@3A9F491C.17FD82A8.5CAE6936.IP) It looks somewhat like Vernard... Vernard growls menacingly at the shape Another dog *** Parts: Guest_9047 (IRCQNet@3A9F491C.17FD82A8.5CAE6936.IP) It appears to be, if you mof=ve closer, a wolf! or is it.... It looks like it is stalking Wolf! I think we should move it out of here.... .. except for one thing What? it isn't moving a whisker I am going to try to pick it up and move it away from the deer and fawn How strong is MoonShadow? * Brother-Maurius gives her a hand. Strenth of 13 *Strength The wolf is suprisingly heavy, but the two of you can lift it. It does take effort to walk carrying it. It is like the Wolf has a parachute and it is holding it back. Or like you are lifting it not only up. But you have to lift forward as well. Maybe move it about 20 paces to the SE. As you move the wolf and are about to settle it down. Marius notices something in the air before him. It is a leaf frozen in the air, not falling, but not supported either. It seems just weird to MoonShadow. Still it is dark and hard to see anything much. Is anything else moving besides us? I think we should get the heck out of Dodge.....I don't like this place. ... excluding Emalda and Vernard, nothing seems to be moving. It even seems more work than normal to breath. The sky also does not seem to have grown any lighter in the past hours. Let's make tracks here. Dawn even approaching on little cat feet never seemd to approach quite so slowly before. Even in the arctic and Tony doesn't seem anywhere near either. orlando * Brother-Maurius asks for advice from God as he turns back the way they came. What direction, how fast? East? * Moon-Shadow moans at Emalda's joke East and as fast as possible. East would be good, I think Vernard turns east as well, though hesitatingly and looking in the direction of the deer and fawn. East could be good. Though maybe that is just the direction Grizelda wants us to go in? If we stay here, we may turn into statues as well, boy. I don't think you would like that much. Does he look like he wants to eat them? ;-) Grendel doesn't quite look that hung..... Vernard just seems confused and worried about the animals. YOu get the idea Venard would as a whole rather be hunting hoping rabbits and dreaming of mint jelly and sheep. Ok, can we take the animals with us? Perhaps with substantial effort. The wolf was a challenge. The fawn should be less so.... but the deer...?? I don't think so, remember how much trouble we had moving that wolf... A wolf and a deer might weigh about the same. Wolves are a lot meatier... I just want to get out of here! East is good! "ANYONE HAVE A CLOAK?" I have a Blanket or a pepsi? Does Maurius? Marius just has his robes and whatever he might have tucked in them. "WE CAN PUT THE DEER AND FAWN ON THE BLANKET AND DRAG IT WITH US!!" * Moon-Shadow lays the blanket out on the ground and moves the fawn onto it.] Here, I have my cloak. Emalda pulls a very small bundle from out of her tunic. It unfolds into a large greyish blue cloak. It is stronger than it looks "THREE OF US SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET THE DEER ONTO THE BLANKET!!" Four Okay....I have some rope that can be used to tie the Cloak and Blanket togeather so they can be moved. "OK!! WITH GOD'S GRACE, HEAVE HO!!" If you three move the deer onto the blanket, then I can take care of tieing things togeather. We could just grab the edges of them. You manage to get the doe on the cloak though it is somewhat awkward to lay it down with it's legs all stiff and straight like. The fawn is a simpler bundle The edges of the cloak and blanket that is. we put the deer on it's side. I figured that. :-) Okay, if each of us takes a corner of the whole, then we should be able to carry them. I have tied loops for shoulders. We try not to break off any legs. With effort you can carry them. It might be easier to just drag them though. Emalda is confident the cloak will support it. Okay, so two can act as draft animals for a time and drag the cloak and blanket, then switch off. Ok, we'll take turns dragging them, two people at a time. (Great Minds think alike) Strangely as with the wolf you note that it is difficult to lift the animals, but once they are at a given height it takes no more strength than you would normally expect to hold them at that height. Moving is the problem more than lifting really. did that make sense? It did to me, but I have an advantage I think so.....once things are at a height off the ground, they can be held there with less strength than it would take to move them without lifting. "FORSOOTH! THE GROUND IS BEWITCHED!!" * Brother-Maurius crosses himself. sorta, holding something in place takes no more effort than you would expect. Moving them whether up,or across takes effort. Though once moving they seem pretty normal. Then again it seems to take work to even move things downward. Like there is a resistance to movement. (as opposed to things really just being heavier) Almost as if the air were a semi solid that resists something moving trhough it? *Through No it seems that everything, other than yourselves and what you have brought with you , reisists being moved. Resists more than expected that is Okay * Brother-Maurius chalks it up to either the presence of the Devil or some force beyond their understanding. * Moon-Shadow just shrugs and continues to pull their burden along. Travelling a while Eastward, the burden seems to lesson... there is slow gentle movement from on the cloak Then all at once the doe stands all startled looking! Vernard starts to growl * Moon-Shadow stops and lets go of the ropes The doe and fawn run off Weird. Though they seem a bit slower than normal. They head south The air also seems to lighten and it is easier to breath I think that is a good sign! "PERHAPS IT WAS OUR PROXIMITY TO THE *EVIL* OF THE MUSHROOM RING?" Hmmmm.......the farther west you go, the harder it is to move and to breath.....the farther East, the easier. I thougth we were heading towards the Mushroom ring now? I thnk I vote for South! In that direction, yes. I think South might be a good option at the moment though. Venrard is very confused oUR LACKOF PROXIMITY, THEN? Proxitivity.... proximacity... what? I don't think the Mushroom Ring really hand much to do with it.... Closeness to or away from something. I think I'd prefer onion rings.... is there any more of that rabbit or the bird left? A little bit. Enough for us to have a light snack. * Brother-Maurius didn't bring any with. * Moon-Shadow did As you travelled East the sky lightened faster than expected. Turning south it definetely is getting lighter (snack or otherwise) This is a good thing.....shall we head south then? Perhaps that way we can outwit GRizelda! She probably is making it easiest to go East! * Moon-Shadow just sighs and collects her blanket and rope once more. Vernard stops a moment sniffing the air, then pulls hard to the south "MIGHT IT NOT BE A TRAP THEN?" It is better than where we were. (I have to go at half past) Okay I'm really starting to fade myself. Ditto No mushrooms intended lol Okay probably go for another few minutes Ok, thanks. I've got to learn the lingo... Vernard really wants to go south after something * Moon-Shadow follows him south "WOA THERE! SLOWLY AND WE SHALL FOLLOW!" * Brother-Maurius quotes some appropriate scripture about sheepdogs hearding shepards etc. Venard is held in check by the rope, but you can tell he is anxious to go south * Moon-Shadow follows Venard south, but keeps an eye out for anything wierd. Sunlight starts to hit the treetops and things lighten substantially. There is the sound of water and waterfowl ahead. Perhaps loons. There is also a gobbling sound. Turkey?? Turkeys!! (ditto) You continue through a patch of thick bush... Strangely the leaves seem more lavender than green... they part and..... have you ever seen a 3 legged turkey with webbed feet? No.... You do now! two of them about to enter a pond. Oh...Boy......How big are they? With three little turkeylings following them into the water I thnk that's it for tonight. *** VerdenGM is now known as Darrell Works for me. *** Brother-Maurius is now known as Sam Any idea of a good time for the next game? Thanks for playing late! *** Moon-Shadow is now known as Sandra :-) You are welcome. :) *** Sandra is now known as Sandra_1505 I figured I could go to 2 or 2:30 in any case Not sure...sometimes on Fridays I have English club and a private leson, then go straight to Japanese... Don't have any ideas at the moment. IF we go late, a weekend night I know would be better for John' John will be more available in mid-June, right? That could be... I think weeknights will always be a problem though. I am pretty much free any night. Your Saturday night might be ok for me,,,but it's your Saturday night! Not like I am going anywhere in any case on Saturdays. :) It would work for me unless I have a family thing. Though that is more likely a Sunday night thing for me It likely would work for John. I may have one Saturday a Momth that I can't be around, but that is about it. Ok, well let me know. Perhaps for the 31st our time? Works I think that would be the afternoon of the 1st for you Sam. That works. I'll go write it down. Okay, I'll drop a note in Verden Group so John can see. Now I have to figure out to save the logs of the game without loosing them by accident. :-) I've got a log both on Trillian and on mIRC Okay. It was nice gamming with you Sam. It was fun for me too! :) Sam, youcan also check the log I sent you to see what Marius was up to before you arrived. :-) I think he spoke loud enough. Sure, let us know what time you want to start. *** Parts: Sandra_1505 (IRCQNet@262857F3.815BD541.2FEC90F7.IP) Cool. =) ByE! Thanks for the Game!
